Get ready for interviews

Practice answers to common interview questions and prepare for video interviews.

Start with Common interview questions

Review the list of common interview questions and write out your answers to 10 or more of them, illustrating with stories from your past experience. Practice how to answer any difficult questions about your previous work history – if you were fired, have large employment gaps, or other issues.

A little bit of planning can help you shine during your job interviews. For instance you can work out in advance how well you qualify for a job. For each requirement listed in the job posting, write down your qualifications. This can show you if you lack a particular skill. Plan how you will address this in the interview so you can convince the interviewer that you can learn the skill.

To do: Write out and practice your answers to common interview questions and any difficult questions you anticipate. Set up an interview space and technology for video interviews. Conduct a practice session if time allows.
