SCHOOL BUS DRIVER
License Description
BUS DRIVERS, SCHOOL SOC Code 53-30251 Entry Salary $19.33/hour Average Salary $19.68/hour Job Description School Bus Drivers operate motor vehicles to transport passengers and provide a safe atmosphere. Requirements 1. Good driving record. 2. Must be at least 18 years old. 3. Pass physical examination. 4. Pass drug and alcohol test. 5. Submit to a background check. 6. Have a current DOT Medical Examiners Certificate. Continuing Education There are no continuing education requirements for school bus drivers although optional driver programs such as mountain driving or over the road training are available through the school districts. Restrictions Convictions for any of the following: Driving under the influence Drives or operates a CMV with a blood alcohol of .04% or greater Leaving the scene of an accident Driving under suspension in a CMV Motor vehicle used in a felony Negligent operation of a CMV causing a fatality Drives or operates any vehicle with a blood alcohol of .08% or greater School Located in Wyoming Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) is required for commercial drivers licenses, including those with endorsements for school buses or passengers. Licenses are generally valid for five years but can vary with endorsement type. Contact the Wyoming Department of Transportation for more information.
