Chief Mate - Upper Level
License Description To obtain a United States Coast Guard license as a Chief Mate - Upper Level requires 360 days service as Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch (OIC) on Any Gross Tons oceangoing steam or motor vessels while licensed as a Second Mate. Other requirements include passing a written exam, a physical exam, and completion of a first aid course and a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) course within the past 12 months.
