Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM)
License Description All applicants shall: Be at least 21 years old; Be required to demonstrate United States citizenship or legal presence; Hold current unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse (RN) in Alabama; Graduate from a nurse midwifery program approved by the Accreditation Commission Midwifery Education (ACME) Of the American College of Nurse Midwives; Hold a master's or higher degree in nursing; the Alabama Board of Nursing (ABN) may waive this requirement; Hold current certification as a nurse midwife by the American Midwifery Certification Board; Enrollment in the American College of Nurse Midwives Continuing Competency Assessment Program; Apply for approval of collaborative practice with a duly licensed physician actively engaged in the practice of obstetrics and gynecology.
