District Administrator
License Description District Administrators direct and coordinate activities concerned with the administration of city, county, or other school systems in accordance with the Board of Education standards. They are responsible for formulating plans and policies for all educational programs and submitting them to the school board for approval. They administer the programs for selection of new school sites, construction of buildings, and provision of equipment and supplies. They further direct the preparation and presentation of school budgets and they determine the amount of school bond requirements. They also enlist the support of civic groups when required. They interpret program and policies of the school system to school personnel, to individuals, and community groups and governmental agencies. They are also responsible for coordinating the work of school systems with related activities of other school districts and agencies. In addition, they insure that the laws applying to attendance of children at school are enforced. They also may supervise the examining, appointing, training, and promoting of teaching personnel. Requirements: 1) Must hold, or be eligible to hold, elementary or secondary teaching certificate, and Building Level administrator license or Curriculum Program administrator license. 2) Must have a minimum of three years experience as a teacher and one year as an administrator. 3) Must complete program of study of graduate education above the Master's degree with emphasis in school administration, and Master's Degree in School Administration (or equivalent) at an approved institution. 4) Other requirements/provisions as specified by State law or the State Board of Education. Examinations: School Leadership Series, "School Superintendent Assessment": Five Hour Test: $300.00, NOTE: Each testing site is unique and may have fees particular to the site. Candidate must check with test site for a complete list of fees.
