Career and Professional Techincal Permits Teacher/Instructor
License Description
Technical Permits are issued to professionals leaving industry and entering into the education field. 1. Minimum Requirements for CTE Permits A. Experienced professionals may be issued a CTE provisional permit. B. The minimum requirements include a minimum of an Associate's Degree with two years of relevant work experience in the specialty area to be taught or four years of relevant work experience in the specialty area to be taught. C. Minimum education requirements/work experience shall be met prior to employment in the teaching specialty, verification of high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma. D. All candidates must pass the required background checks. 2. Process for Obtaining CTE Permits A. Candidates shall submit the following documents to the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) Office of Educator Licensure: 0. The Arkansas Educator Licensure Application (link to ADE website below). 1. Official college transcript, copy of high school diploma, or copy General Equivalency Diploma (GED) (Submit the highest attained). 2. Resume reflecting relevant work experience in Specialty Permit Areas. 3. Additional requirements as outlined under Specialty Permit Areas. B. Provisional permits (employment required) will be valid for one (1) year from the applicant's hire date. C. Once all Provisional permit requirements have been satisfactorily met, an application for a standard 5- year permit may be submitted.
