License Description Required for any person who is engaged in the business of packing or guiding, or who for compensation, assists another person in taking, attempting to take or view any bird, mammal, fish, amphibian, or reptile. "Guide" also includes any person who, for profit, transports other persons, their equipment, or both to or from hunting or fishing areas. Fees: License: Resident:$248.49, Nonresident: $570.25, Employee: $54.33. Renewal Period: Annually, February 1 - January 31. Special License Requirements: $1,000 Surety Bond. Comments: Must possess a surety bond in the amount of not less than $1000 to ensure faithful performance. Persons who have resided in California for 6 months or more are residents. Guide employers must also provide documentation showing each registered employee is covered by workers' compensation insurance and that state and federal income tax is being withheld and reported to the taxing authorities.
