License Description Fees: Application, original: $200 Application, reciprocity: $200 Fingerprint: $49 Active License fee: $400 (Delinquency fee $100) (REQUIRED/ADDITION) w/ Active License fee: $12 (CURES); $25 (Steven Thompson Loan Repayment) Inactive License fee: $300 (Delinquency fee ($75) ADDITION (Active/Inactive License fee): $12 (CURES); $25 (Steven Thompson Loan Repayment) Experience Requirement: Graduation from a Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) approved college of Osteopathic Medicine, one-year internship, and pass the Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination – USA (COMLEX) or Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Variable Purpose Examination (COMVEX); COMLEX Levels 1, 2 (CE & PE), and 3 must be completed prior to applying for license. Average Time to Process Application: up to 6 months. Renewal Period: Biennially (every second year in birth month). Comments: Inactive Licensure is for Osteopathic physicians practicing in other states but desiring to retain California licensure. Note: There is a Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirement of 100 hours over a 2-year renewal period; 40 hours must be AOA category 1A or 1B.
