License Description
Landscape architects and any person who uses the title or does the work of a landscape architect as defined in Business and Professions Code, Division 3, Chapter 3.5. Fees: National Examination (Landscape Architects Registration Examination) - administered by The Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards (CLARB): Section 1 $ 385.00 Section 2 $ 385.00 Section 3 $ 610.00 Section 4 $ 610.00 *Final fees established as part of the annual CLARB budget process. Fees are subject to change. Local Examination (California Supplemental Examination): $275.00 CSE Application Evaluation Fee: $35 Initial License: $400.00 Renewal: $400.00 Examination Frequency: National Examination - three (3) times a year, Local Examination - continuous Exam Locations: Multiple Experience Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age (or have graduated from high school in order to receive training/experience credit); have six years of qualifying education and/or work experience. Multiple years of credit are granted for a masters, bachelors, associate degree, or extension certificate in landscape architecture OR an architecture degree from a NAAB-accredited program, and any four-year degree accepted for one year. Work experience may be done under a licensed landscape architect, architect, registered civil engineer, or licensed landscape contractor and may be combined with education or used to satisfy all six years (credit limits vary by profession). Average Time to Process Application: California Code of Regulations Section 2612 states sixty (60) days. *Average process time is three (3) weeks. Renewal Period: Biennially (every second year). Special License Requirements: not available Comments: The Board of Landscape Architects was sunsetted effective July 1,1997, after which the Technical Committee was established under the purview of the California Architects Board.
