Examination Requirement: 8-hour California Geotechnical Engineering examination. Examination Frequency: Annual (November only) examination cycle. For final filing dates, see our website: www.bpelsg.ca.gov. Geotechnical+Engineer Exam Locations: Statewide at designated locations. See our website: www.pels.ca.gov. Experience Requirement: Four years of responsible charge experience in geotechnical engineering after licensure as a Civil Engineer, less a maximum of one year credit for post-graduate education (if not previously used). Applicants must have a valid, unexpired license as a Civil Engineer in California. See website: www.bpelsg.ca.gov. Average Time to Process Application: Up to sixty days.
