Certified Rangeland Manager (CRM)
License Description
The Certified Rangeland Manager (CRM) license is a "certified specialty" of forestry created by the Board under the authority of the Professional Foresters Law. A Certified Rangeland Manager applies scientific principles to the art and science of managing rangelands associated with forested landscapes. Rangelands are lands supporting grass, shrub, and savanna vegetation types. Forested landscapes means those tree dominated landscapes and their associated vegetation types on which there is growing a significant stand of tree species, or which are naturally capable of growing a significant stand of native trees in perpetuity, and is not otherwise devoted to nonforestry commercial, urban, or farming uses. Minimum requirements for licensure include an undergraduate or higher degree in range science or a related discipline, five years of professional work experience in range management, and successful completion of a comprehensive written examination. Fees: License (annual): $65; License (biennial renewal) $130. The renewal fee for registration and/or certification as a forestry specialist shall be waived when a license or certificate is issued less than ninety (90) days before the date on which it will expire. Fees payable to the California-Pacific Section, Society for Range Management. Young Professional Member (formerly Apprentice) $70.00, Regular Member $100.00, Student Member $45.00, Emeritus Member $45.00, Family of Regular Member $40.00, International Member $35.00. Exam application fee $200.00 Examination Frequency: as needed in October andApril of each year. Exam Location: Exams given in Eureka and Sacramento with other locations added as necessary to meet demand. Renewal Period: Biennially. Licenses expire on July 1 of each alternating year.
