License Description Registered Polysomnographic Technician: The registration is required for individuals who may perform the services of a polysomnographic trainee under general supervision and may implement appropriate interventions necessary for patient safety in California. Fees: Application: $120.00 Fingerprint: $49.00 plus any rolling fees (varies depending on location) Initial license: $120. Biennial Renewal: $220.00 Currently, Polysomnographic Trainees, Technicians, or Technologists are unable to renew their license online. Polysomnographic registrants must renew by mail. Education Information: America Academy of Sleep Medicine: www.aasmnet.org. Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP): www.caahep.org. Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist: www.brpt.org. Minimum Requirements: 1) You must have successfully completed an approved polysomnographic education program. You must submit a copy of your transcript and certificate of completion; 2) You must possess a minimum of 6 months of experience as a Registered Polysomnographic Trainee; and 3) You must possess at the time of application a current certificate in Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association or the American Safety and Health Institute. Average Time to Process Application: 30 days Renewal Period: Biennially (every second year).
