License Description
A fire and casualty licensee is a person authorized to act as an insurance agent, broker, or solicitor, and a fire and casualty broker-agent license is a license so to act. Qualifications Minimum Age: 18 years; Residency: California residency is not required; Prelicensing Experience/Education: Complete prelicensing requirements consisting of 40 hours of approved fire and casualty prelicensing study and 12 hours of approved prelicensing study on ethics and the California Insurance Code; Entity: Individual and Business Entity Fees: Application: $128 for two-year term; Re-examination: $37; Renewal: 128, two-year term; Fingerprint processing: $60.95 Other license information and requirements: Exam required: Yes; Examination Frequency and Locations: Monday through Friday in San Francisco, San Diego, Sacramento, and Los Angeles; Fingerprint impressions: Fingerprint impressions are required for all unlicensed resident and most non-resident applicants. Average Time to Process Application: 1 to 2 weeks; Renewal Period: Renewal Period: Biennially (every second year) Special License Requirements: Continuing Education: During each of the first four 12-month periods following issue of license, complete 25 hours of continuing education, thereafter, complete 24 hours of continuing education during each two-year license term.
