Experience Requirement: Effective January 1, 2010 audiology applicants who graduated from an approved audiology training program after January 1, 2008 must hold a doctorate degree in audiology to qualify for licensure in California. Master's degree or equivalent in appropriate major which must include: completion of 60 semester units, not less than 24 units must be in related disorders specific to the profession for which licensure is sought, and 36 in related field, and 300 hours of supervised clinical experience. Thirty-six weeks of supervised, full-time experience, or seventy-two weeks of part-time experience under the supervision of a licensed speech-language pathologist or audiologist. NTE testing within the last 5 years, or may submit a request for a waiver. (Note: Must have qualified on the exam at some time in order to be considered for a waiver.) Applicant holds a valid certificate of clinical competence in speech-language pathology or audiology issued by the Council in Professional Standards in Speech-Language Pathology or Audiology are deem to have met the requirements for licensure.
