"Private security guard" shall mean an individual employed by a private security agency to perform one or more of the following functions; prevention of intrusion, entry, larceny, vandalism, abuse, fire, or trespass on private property. "Armed" shall mean any private security guard who carries or has immediate access to a firearm in the performance of his or her duties. What is the process to become a security guard? 1. Individuals must come into one of our two locations for fingerprint and picture processing. Locations are listed below. 2. Individuals must complete the employee application, see the link below. Applications are also available at both locations. 3. Turn in training and test certificates to the professional licensing section. 4. Upon approval and submission of training and test, ID cards will be mailed to the address listed on the individual's application. What is the process to become an armed security guard? All applicants must complete a 40 hour firearms course with an approved instructor. See the link below for Approved Instructors. You must be at least 18 years or older to apply. What is the age requirement for armed security guard? You must be at least 21 years or older to apply. What is the cost for a security guard license? There is a non-refundable $85.00 fee. We accept cash, certified check, Visa, Master Card, Discover, company check, or money order. We cannot accept personal checks or American Express. What is the cost for an armed security license? If it is a license renewal there is a non-refundable $85.00 fee. If it is a firearms upgrade there is a non-refundable $30.00 fee.
