Security Officer (Armed)
License Description An individual who protects persons or private property on a contractual basis. Performs functions such as prevention of unauthorized intrusion, theft, vandalism, or other unauthorized activity on private property as well as protection of patrons and personal property.

Chapter 493, Florida Statutes.

Educational Requirements:
Unarmed securtiy officers must successfully complete 40 hours of training from a licensed class "DS" Security officer school or training facility. Armed security officers must successfully complete 40 hours of training from a licensed class "DS" security officer school or training facility and 28 hours of training from a licensed class "K" firearms instructor.
