License Description Florida Statutes; Rule 11A-B, Florida Administrative Code: A law enforcement officer is any person who is elected, appointed, or employed full-time by any municipality, the state, or any political subdivision thereof. This individual is vested with authority to bear arms and make arrests, and primary responsible for maintaining civic order.

Educational Requirements:

Graduation from high school or the equivalent degree and successful completion of a basic recruit training course. At least 40 hours continuing education are required every 4 years. Licensee must complete eight hours of human diversity training.
