License Description
DESCRIPTION OF OCCUPATION: A Landscape Architect plans and designs land areas for public, commercial, industrial, and residential sites according to codes and standards. REQUIREMENTS FOR LICENSING: If you are currently licensed in another jurisdiction, you may become licensed through endorsement (contact the licensing agency for list of requirements). Otherwise, below are the requirements for licensure through examination. Experience and education requirements: Amount of experience required depends on level of education: (1) Master's degree in landscape architecture from an approved institution, graduate of a 4-year landscape architectural curriculum from an approved school or college, AND 2 years lawful landscape architectural experience; OR 2) Graduate of a 4-year landscape architectural curriculum from an approved school or college AND 3 years lawful landscape architectural experience; OR 3) Graduate of a 4-year pre-landscape architectural or arts and science curriculum from an approved school or college AND 5 years lawful landscape architectural experience; OR 4) 12 years lawful landscape architectural experience. EXAMINATIONS: CLARB exam Board-produced landscape architectural licensing exam FEES: Application fee of $150 for endorsement or $100 for exam, $60 for Hawaii Plant Materials exam, $128 for 2-year license, and $100 for biennial compliance resolution fund. License renewal every 2 years is $104. OTHER: There were 90 licenses currently active as of February 24, 2022. ~ revised 12/21
