License Description DESCRIPTION OF OCCUPATION: A Land Surveyor measures the earths' surface to determine property boundaries and to provide data for mapmaking, construction, and engineering purposes. REQUIREMENTS FOR LICENSING: Experience and education requirements: 1) Graduate of a 4-year geoscience, land surveying, civil engineering, or general engineering curriculum from an approved school or college with 3 years lawful experience; OR 2) Graduate of a 4-year arts and science curriculum with a math, science, or science-related major from an approved school or college with 7 years lawful experience; OR 3) Graduate of a 2-year civil engineering technology (survey optional) curriculum from an approved school or college with 7 years lawful experience; OR (4) 11 years lawful experience. EXAMINATIONS: National Council of Engineering Examiners (NCEES) exam: Fundamental of Surveying (FS) and Principles and Practice of Surveying (PS). Board-produced exam on Hawaii Description Writing. FEES: $150/$100/$50 for application, NCEES exam fees, $80 for Board exam, $128 for 2-year license, and $100 for biennial compliance resolution fund. License renewal every 2 years $104.
