License Description
DESCRIPTION OF OCCUPATION: A Podiatrist diagnoses and treats diseases and deformities of the human foot. REQUIREMENTS FOR LICENSING: Professional requirements: If you are/were licensed in other state(s), arrange to have a disciplinary report sent to the Board. Education and experience requirements: Graduate in podiatric medicine from a college approved by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education (CPME) of the American Podiatric Medical Association. CPME approved podiatric residency training: a) 24 months in CPME approved podiatric residency prior to applying for licensure; or b) if a graduate of CPME approved college before 1/1/04, have completed 12 months in CPME approved podiatric residency; at least 10 years of active licensed experience in podiatric medicine in another state; and a current, unencumbered license in podiatric medicine in another state. Continuing education requirements: Completion of 40 hours of continuing education in podiatry required for license renewal. EXAMINATIONS: Parts I, II, and III of the National Board of Podiatric Medical Examiners' (NBPME) exam. FEES: Between February 1, 2022 and January 31, 2023, pay $315 (application $50, license $65, ½ renewal for 2nd year of 2-year license $52, compliance resolution fund $148). Between February 1, 2023 and January 31, 2024, pay $189 (application $50, license $65, compliance resolution fund $74). OTHER: There were 55 licenses currently active as of February 24, 2022. ~ revised 10/16
