License Description DESCRIPTION OF OCCUPATION: A Radiation Therapist utilizes linear accelerators, particle generators, or radioactive materials to administer ionizing radiation to the human body for the purpose of therapy treatment, as prescribed by a physician. The practice is conducted with strict adherence to the principles of radiation protection. REQUIREMENTS FOR LICENSING: Education and experience requirements: School or training program accredited by the Radiologic Technology Board. Professional requirements: Be current member with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) which includes 24 Category A or A+ continuing education credits. CERTIFICATION: Must be registered with the American Board of Radiologic Technologists and be in good standing in the appropriate field in radiation therapy technology. EXAMINATIONS: ARRT National Board Exam APPLICATION AND FEES: $60 for first license; $5 for each additional area.
