Midwives (CPM)
License Description Midwives in Idaho must be licensed by the Idaho State Board of Midwifery at the Idaho Bureau of Occupational Licenses. Practice of midwifery means providing maternity care for women and their newborns during the antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum periods. The postpartum period for both maternal and newborn care may not exceed six (6) weeks from the date of delivery. Applicants for licensure must submit a completed application, licensing fees, and documentation acceptable to the Board. License requirements include: 1) Certification as a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) with the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM); 2) Documentation of successful completion of board approved MEAC accredited courses in pharmacology, the treatment of shock/IV therapy, and suturing specific to midwives. Term: Licenses are renewed annually.
