Journeyman Plumber
License Description Plumbers must be licensed by the state of Idaho. There are three certificates of competency available to plumbers in Idaho: apprentice registration, journeyman license, and contractor’s license. Journeyman plumber applicants must: 1.) Document a minimum of 8,000 hours of work experience as an Idaho plumbing apprentice; 2.) Complete four (4) years of approved plumbing apprenticeship school; 3.) Submit an application with required documents and fees; 4.) Pass a written and practical work exam. Specialty licenses are available in the areas of: Appliance, Water Pump, and Mobile Home plumbing. Document a minimum of 4,000 hours of work experience as an Idaho specialty plumbing apprentice; 2.) Pass a written exam. Term: Licenses are valid for three years before renewal
