License Description Child care providers that care for seven or more children and receive compensation must be licensed in Idaho unless they are otherwise exempt. Licensing requirements include: 1.) Submitting an application with required documents and fees; 2.) Documenting the number of children to receive care and information about every owner, operator, employee, and volunteer at the care facility; 3.) Every owner, operator, employee, and volunteer passing a background check; 4.) Passing facility health and fire inspections; 5.) Having at least one staff member with CPR training on duty at all times. A state license may not be required in cities with separate licensing procedures. The following Idaho cite have supplemental or alternative licensing requirements: Boise, Chubbuck, Pocatello, Ammon, Idaho Falls, Coeur d’Alene, Moscow, Lewiston, and Hailey.
