Podiatrist
License Description In order to obtain a license to practice podiatric medicine in the state of Indiana, candidates must: Have a doctorate in podiatric medicine from a school or college approved by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education. Have completed at least 12 months of graduate podiatric medical training. Have not been convicted of a crime nor have been subject to disciplinary sanctions that would interfere with the ability to carry out professional duties. Have proper malpractice insurance. Pass successfully the board-administered examination. Pay all examination and application fees. Podiatrists must apply for a certificate as a supervising podiatrist in order to employ a podiatrist's assistant. Licenses for podiatrists can be renewed every four years while those for podiatrist's assistants are reviewed annually. More detailed information, including application packets and test dates, may be obtained directly from the Indiana Board of Podiatric Medicine.
