License Description GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION Enforces federal and state laws as well as city and county ordinances. Provides routine police patrols, conducts criminal investigations, investigates traffic accidents, and provides police services to the general public. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Must be a high school graduate or possess a G.E.D. Must successfully complete four hundred (400) hours of basic training approved by the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council within the first year of employment. GENERAL INFORMATION for LICENSURE or CERTIFICATION Must be twenty-one (21) years of age. Must meet the physical and mental requirements of the employing agency. Some agencies may require polygraph and/or drug testing. CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS (after licensure or certification) Must successfully complete forty (40) hours inservice training approved by the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council annually.
