License Description
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION An auctioneer accepts bids on property belonging to someone else for the highest possible amount for the seller. He enters into a contract, gives receipts, gives accounting and funds to seller within thirty (30) days along with proceeds. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Study material is provided to applicants by the Board office for preparation for the exam. Applicants for the principal exam must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS Application and forms must be received from Board office, must be completed and returned with fee twenty-one (21) days prior to exam date. Fee is $100.00. Exam offered every February, May, August, and November. Score of seventy-five (75) is needed to pass the exam. If applicant fails he must complete new application and pay fee again before retake of test. Exam is offered in Louisville, Kentucky only. GENERAL INFORMATION for LICENSURE or CERTIFICATION Applicants must be at least eighteen (18) years of age and must have served at least two years (2) apprenticeship. He/she must have been the bid caller in at least ten (10) sales during the immediate preceding twelve (12) months before sitting for the Principal examination. He / she must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Non-residents who reside in a state where no licensing requirements exist must fill out the proper application and forms and sit for the exam. Applicants who reside in a state with which we have reciprocity must fill out the required forms and pay the fee with no test required. Fee for all tests is $100.00 with the exception of the apprentice which is $75.00. License fees are: initial license $80.00 and renewal fees are $60.00. Renewal are every June 30th. CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS (after licensure or certification) Applicants are required to have six (6) hours per year for principle auctioneer.
