License Description GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION The practice of psychology means rendering to individuals, groups, organizations, or the public any psychological service involving the application of principles, methods, and procedures of understanding, predicting, and influencing behavior, such as the principles pertaining to learning, perception, motivation, thinking, emotions, and interpersonal relationships; the methods and procedures of interviewing, counseling, and psychotherapy; of constructing, administering, and interpreting tests of mental abilities, aptitudes, interests, attitudes, personality characteristics, emotion, and motivation. The application of said principles and methods includes, but is not restricted to: diagnosis, prevention and amelioration of adjustment problems and emotional, mental and nervous disorders of individuals and groups; educational and vocational counseling; the evaluation and planning for effective work and learning situations; and the resolution of interpersonal and social conflicts. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Must be a graduate from a regionally accredited educational institution with a master's degree in psychology. At least six hundred (600) hours of supervised experience which was part of the master's degree training. These educational experiences typically have titles such as practicum internship or field training and must be reflected on your graduate transcript. EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology (EPPP) is given twice yearly, April and October. The application fee is $300.00. GENERAL INFORMATION for LICENSURE or CERTIFICATION Contact the regulatory agency for application procedures. You must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age. There are no residency requirements.
