License Description GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION The application of principles, methods and procedures for the measurement, testing, prediction, counseling, or instruction related to the development and disorders of speech, voice, or language for the purpose of preventive treating such disorders and conditions in individuals and/or groups of individuals. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS You must possess at least a master's degree in the area of speech pathology. Submit official transcripts from an educational institution approved by the regulatory agency evidencing the successful completion of at least sixty (60) hours of courses related to speech, hearing, and language and courses that provide training information. GENERAL INFORMATION for LICENSURE or CERTIFICATION You must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. There are no residency or health requirements. You must be of good moral character. Contact the regulatory agency regarding work experience requirements, and licensure renewal and fees. CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS (after licensure or certification) Fifteen (15) hours annually. Twenty-five (25) hours for those who hold dual licenses. SPECIAL COMMENTS or CONDITIONS The regulatory agency waives the examination and grants license to those who hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence of the American Speech and Hearing Association. There is a $25.00 application fee and a $50.00 licensure fee, the latter being refundable if not approved.
