License Description
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION Must carefully evaluate the patient's physical condition following an accident or illness, and provide prompt, appropriate and efficient care of the patient prior to transportation to a medical facility. Must complete reports and maintain records on each patient. Must maintain equipment and possibly vehicles. Must be trained in crowd control and utilize two-way communications equipment. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Must be able to read, speak, write and understand the English language. Must complete a prescribed training course approved by the regulatory agency. EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS Contact the regulatory agency regarding application procedures. Written and practical examinations administered at the end of each approved course. Contact the regulatory agency for additional information. Written and Practical Skills examinations given at the end of the course for those who successfully completed same. Practical Skills Certification exam must be passed before applicant is eligible to submit for the Written Certification exam. Must score a minimum of seventy-five percent (75%) on the written examination. $13.00 examination fee. Should applicant fail, must retake entire course again before reexamination. GENERAL INFORMATION for LICENSURE or CERTIFICATION You must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. May be subject to disciplinary action for violations pertaining to 902 KAR 13:090. Contact the regulatory agency for more information. There are no work experience requirements. Certificates are renewed every three (3) years from date of first issue. Certificate renewal fees are the same as the original fees. CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS (after licensure or certification) Continuing education or inservice training is a requirement for recertification.
