License Description GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION Authorized to contract for and engage in the business of installation, maintenance, altering, remodeling and repair of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age and been regularly and principally employed or engaged in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning trades as a Journeyman mechanic for not less than two (2) years under the direction and supervision of a Master Contractor before sitting for the Kentucky-specific examination. GENERAL INFORMATION for LICENSURE or CERTIFICATION A Master Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Contractor license application fee is one hundred dollars ($100.00). Applicant must meet the insurance requirements of $500,000 general liability and $300,000 property damage ($800,000 aggregate). CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS (after licensure or certification) Each licensee shall complete ten (10) hours of continuing education approved by the Board prior to the annual renewal of license. SPECIAL COMMENTS or CONDITIONS A licensed Master HVAC Contractor who plans to do mechanic "hands on" work must also obtain a Journeyman HVAC Mechanic license.
