License Description GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION The practice of respiratory care means the procedures employed in the therapy, management, rehabilitation, gathering of assessment information, or other procedures administered to patients with deficiencies or abnormalities which affect their cardiopulmonary system and associated aspects of cardiopulmonary and other system functions. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Successful completion of a training program accredited by the American Medical Association's Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation in collaboration with the Joint Review Committee for Respiratory Therapy Education. EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS Must have successfully completed the entry level certification examination administered by the National Board for Respiratory Care. GENERAL INFORMATION for LICENSURE or CERTIFICATION You must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. The initial fee is $100.00 for a two-year period while the renewal fee is $50.00 for each two-year period. Notification of renewal will be mailed at least one month in advance of the renewal date. You may contact the regulatory agency regarding reciprocity with other states.
