License Description
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION A specialist who provides an analysis, opinion, or conclusion relating to the nature, value or utility of specified interests in, or aspects of, identified real estate, for or in expectation of compensation. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Must successfully complete one hundred eighty (180) classroom hours of courses related to real estate appraisal which shall include fifteen (15) hours of the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP). Experience may not be substituted for education. EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS Applicant must successfully pass the written State Certification / Licensing Examination, with a minimum score of (70%) percent. Contact the regulatory agency for specific information. Education requirements must be met prior to being seated for the examination. GENERAL INFORMATION for LICENSURE or CERTIFICATION Must be eighteen (18) years of age. Must be deemed as competent by the board. No health requirements. Kentucky residents must maintain a definite place of business in Kentucky. No residency requirements for state certification. There will be annual renewal of certificates, the date to be determined by the board. Annual certificate renewal fee is not to exceed $200.00. CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS (after licensure or certification) The equivalent of fourteen (14) classroom hours of instruction in courses or seminars for each year during the period preceding renewal is required. SPECIAL COMMENTS or CONDITIONS Applicant must have acquired three thousand (3,000) hours and a minimum of thirty (30) months of appraisal experience. Hours may be treated as cumulative in order to obtain the hours. At least fifty percent (50%) or fifteen hundred (1,500) hours must be in non-residential appraisal work. Residential is defined as one-to-four residential units.
