License Description GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION Negotiates, or attempts to negotiate, the sale, exchange, rental or leasing of property, belonging to other people, for a fee, compensation or commission. Work under the supervision of a Real Estate Broker. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Must be a high school graduate or possess G.E.D. equivalency PLUS successfully complete six (6) credit hours or ninety-six (96) classroom hours of instruction in real estate courses from an accredited college, university or a commission approved proprietary school. EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS Information may be secured from the regulatory agency. Examinations are given several times a week in Kentucky. Multiple choice examination. You must score 75%. The examination fee is $75.00. GENERAL INFORMATION for LICENSURE or CERTIFICATION You must be eighteen (18) years of age to make application. You must be a resident of Kentucky. There are no health requirements. You must be honest, trustworthy and of a good reputation. There are no work requirements. All licenses are renewed by March 31, fee not to exceed $30.00 plus Educational, Research and Recovery Fund not to exceed $30.00. Contact the regulatory agency regarding reciprocity. Errors and Omissions Insurance is required of all licensees whether secured from an insurance company or through the regulatory agency's group. CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS (after licensure or certification) All active real estate licensees must complete six (6) hours of continuing education each calendar year. Two (2) of the six (6) hours must be in real estate law topic. Individuals who were originally licensed prior to June 19, 1976 and who have maintained a continuously active license since that date, as well as licensees in escrow are exempt from this requirement.
