License Description Registered nurses (RN) are graduates from a nursing program that prepares for RN practice, who have passed a national licensing exam and abide by criteria for RN licensure through the Board of Registration in Nursing for the protection, promotion, and optimization of health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response, and advocacy in the care of individuals, families, communities, and populations. RN's care for culturally diverse patients, groups and communities with complex health care needs in variety of settings. Exemplars include, but are not limited to: physical assessment; care planning, implementation and evaluation; delegation; teaching; care coordination across settings; charge nurse or supervisor; verify orders; administer medications/vaccines via variety of routes; insert/remove peripheral IV devices; insert/ manage/withdraw PICCs; perform Board-specified medical aesthetic procedures.
