NURSE, LICENSED PRACTICAL (LPN)
License Description Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) are graduates from a nursing program that prepares for LPN practice, who have passed a national licensing exam and abide by criteria for LPN licensure through the Board of Registration in Nursing for the protection, promotion, and optimization of health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response, and advocacy in the care of individuals, families, communities, and populations. LPNs care for culturally diverse patients with common health care needs in variety of settings. Exemplars include, but are not limited to: assessment; care planning and implementation; delegation; patient teaching; charge nurse or supervisor; verify orders; administer vaccines/medications via various routes; insert/remove peripheral IV devices and administer medication, hydration, blood products via IV or other infusion device; perform Board-specified medical aesthetic procedures.
