Home Care: Basic Home Care / Comprehensive Home Care License | Integrated License: Home and Community-Based Services Designation
License Description
A home care provider must hold a current license to operate in the state. Refer to: Information on Starting a Home Care Agency in Minnesota and Home Care and Assisted Living Information for Licensed Providers Minnesota has two types of home care licenses: basic and comprehensive. The license a home care provider holds depends on the types of services offered. The following documents list the services allowed under each license: Statement of Services: Basic Home Care Provider Statement of Services: Comprehensive Home Care Provider Background Studies All owners, managerial officials, and the named RN on home care license applications must complete and pass background studies prior to the issuance of a home care license. Instructions for Conducting Background Studies with NETStudy 2.0 (PDF) Review Minn. Stat. § 144A.471 to understand who is required hold a home care license. Information about exempt and excluded providers can be found in subdivisions 8 and 9 of this statute. Exempt providers must comply with the applicable provisions of the home care bill of rights in Minn. Stat. § 144A.44. Licenses are renewed on an annual basis. Licenses are not transferable.
