Hair Braiders
License Description
General Information and Definitions: 1. Hair Braiding shall mean the use of techniques that result in tension on hair strands or roots by twisting, wrapping, weaving, extending, locking or braiding of the hair by hand or mechanical device, but does not include the application of dyes, reactive chemicals, or other preparations to alter the color of the hair or to straighten, curl or alter the structure of the hair. 2. Board shall mean the Mississippi State Board of Health. 3. Department shall mean the Mississippi Department of Health. 4. Brochure shall mean a publication prepared by the Department of Health containing information about infection control techniques that are appropriate for hair braiding in or outside of a salon setting, and containing a self-test with questions on the information contained in the brochure. 5. Establishment shall mean the place or premises where a person is engaged in Hair Braiding for compensation. 6. Business Hours shall mean the time period from 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. 7. Act shall mean Sections 73-7-31 and 32 et seq. of Mississippi Code of 1972, annotated. Subchapter 2: Requirement For Registration Rule 5.2.1 Any person engaged in Hair Braiding for compensation in the State of Mississippi, and not exempted pursuant to Subchapter 4 of these Rules, shall Register with the Department, in form and substance satisfactory to the Department. The cost of Registration shall be $25.00. SOURCE: Miss. Code Ann. §73-7-71 Subchapter 3: Requirement for Self Test Rule 5.3.1 Any person engaged in Hair Braiding for compensation in the State of Mississippi, and not exempted pursuant to Subchapter 4 of these Rules, shall be required to complete the self test contained within the Brochure and to keep said Brochure at the premises.
