Radon Professions
License Description
Occupational Description
Radon Measurement Specialists perform radon or radon progeny measurements or provide professional advice for above listed measurements, health risks, radon-related exposure, radon entry routes, or other radon-related activities. Radon Mitigation Specialists design mitigation systems or perform evaluations and diagnostic tests to determine these systems. May perform duties of Radon Mitigation Technician. Radon Mitigation Technicians install or supervise the installation of radon or radon progeny mitigation systems on existing buildings.
Licensure Requirements
Applicants for any radon occupation must: 1. Complete training for radon measurement or mitigation, approved by the Department, within four years prior to application; 2. Complete an examination approved by the Department for measurement or mitigation; Applicants for a Mitigation Specialist credential must also possess any combination of two years of relevant post-secondary education or relevant work experience.
Fees
License Fee- $92,.00 or $25.00 if initial license is obtained within 180 days prior to the next expiration date.
Renewal
Renewal is required biennially by March 31 of each odd-numbered year. To renew a license, an applicant must submit the following to the Department of Health & Human Services: 1. Renewal notice; 2. Payment of the renewal fee (same as initial license fee); 3. Attestation of completion of continuing education requirements.
