Voice Stress Examiner
License Description
Occupational Description
Voice Stress Examiners attempt to verify truthfulness or detect deception by using instrumentation capable of recording the human voice, which detects and measures pitch, amplitude, frequency, and other components of the human voice for the purpose of attempting to determine truth or deception, and whose records are permanently and simultaneously recorded.Voice stress examinations are used by law enforcement agencies, the legal community, and private businesses under the restrictions set forth in federal and state law.A license is required for any person who uses or attempts to use any instrument or device for the purpose of attempting to verify truthfulness or detectdeception.
Licensure Requirements
Applicants must:1. Submit an application form;2. Pay the license fee;3. Pass a written examination;4. Be at least 19 years of age;5. Be a United States citizen;6. Possess good moral character.7. Either:A. Have an academic degree at the baccalaureate level from an accredited college or university;-or-B. Have at least four years of investigative experience at the federal, state, political subdivision, or private licensed investigator level immediately prior to application;-or-C. Have had at least four years' experience administering examinations;8. Have completed 60 hours of formal voice stress analysis instruction;9. Have completed an internship training period.
Fees
Voice Stress Examiner's License Fee- $50.00 Intern License Fee- $15.00
Renewal
Renewal is required annually by December 31 of each year. The renewal fee is $25.00.
