License Description
Occupational Description
A Registered Abstracter is an individual, registered under the Abstracters Act, holding an operative certificate of registration, who for a fee or other valuable consideration, compiles and certifies Abstracts of Title or prepares Reports of Title for real property in any county within the state of Nebraska.
Licensure Requirements
Any individual desiring to become a registered abstracter shall file an application for registration with the board. Such applicant shall have reached the age of majority, shall not have been convicted of a felony. Each applicant for registration shall take the written examination prescribed by section 76-543. The board shall prescribe a written examination to determine the proficiency of the applicant. If the applicant passes the examination and meets the other requirements of section 76-542, the board shall issue a certificate of registration designating him or her to be a registered abstracter.

Registered Abstracters – Application Fee $ 50.00 Examination Fee $ 75.00 Re-Examination Fee $ 75.00 Certificate of Registration $ 200.00 Transfer Certificate of Registration $ 10.00 (To New Employer) Duplicate Certificate of Registration Fee $ 50.00 (Additional Company) Certificate of Authority – Application Fee $ 100.00 Certificate of Authority $ 400.00
Renewal
Every two years a registered abstracter shall complete and certify to the board that he or she has successfully completed three hours of board-approved professional development credits. The board shall adopt and promulgate rules and regulations necessary for the effective delivery and approval of all programs of professional development required. The Certificate of Authority must also be renewed on the same two year cycle, pursuant to section 76-547.
