License Description

Occupational Description


Barber Instructors are licensed to teach any and all of the practices of the Barber profession in an approved school of barbering.

Licensure Requirements


Applicants Must:1. Have been actively practicing as a licensed barber for at least one year prior;2. Have served at least nine months as a registered assistant barber instructor;3. Have met one of the following educational requirements;    A. 18 hours of college credits with three credit hours in the following:        *Methods of Teaching,        * Curriculum Development,        * Special vocational needs,        * Educational psychology        * Speech communication,        * Introduction to business;-OR-     B. Completion of the alternate barber instructor course;-OR-     C. Online coursework which meets the requirements established by the Board in their rules and regulations;4. Pass both a written and a practical examination.

Examination & Two-Year License - $200.00

Renewal


Licenses expire on June 30 of each even numbered year. The renewal fee is $100.00.
