License Description

Occupational Description


Physical Therapist Assistants assist physical therapists in the practice of physical therapy. The practice of physical therapy includes the use of exercises and other treatments to: Restore physical function; Promote fitness & health; Reduce the risk of injuries.

Licensure Requirements


Applicants must: 1. Have reached the age of majority; 2. Have graduated from an accredited physical therapist assistant program; 3. Have passed the certification examination; 4. Be either a citizen of the United States, an alien lawfully admitted into the United States who is eligible for a credential under the Uniform Credentialing Act, or a nonimmigrant who is lawfully present in the United States and who is eligible for a credential under the Uniform Credentialing Act.

Fees


Initial Certification Fee- $90.00

Renewal


Renewal is required biennially by November 1 of odd-numbered years. The renewal fee is $90.00. Ten hours of continuing education are required to qualify for renewal. Licensees must also pass the Nebraska Law Tutorial with a score of 100% prior to renewal.
