Pharmacy Technician
License Description
Occupational Description
Pharmacy Technicians prepare medications under the direction of a pharmacist. They may measure, mix, count out, label, and record amounts and dosages of medications according to prescription orders. A Pharmacy Technician may only perform tasks which do not require professional judgment and which are subject to verification to assist a Pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy.
Licensure Requirements
A Pharmacy Technician must:1. Be at least 18 years old;2. Be a high school graduate or recognized by the State Department of Education as having the equivalent level of education;3. Have never been convicted of any non-alcohol, drug-related misdemeanor or felony;4. Be registered by DHHS as a Pharmacy Technician. Anyone employed as a Pharmacy Technician must be registered with the Nebraska Department of Health & Human Services before their first date of working as a Pharmacy Technician.If the individual was registered as a Pharmacy Technician as of January 1, 2016, they must be able to demonstrate completion of a Board-approved state or national Pharmacy Technician certification program. If they were first registered after January 1, 2016, they must be certified within one year from the registration date.Reciprocity- Nebraska Revised Statute 38-129.02 outlines a reciprocity pathway for individuals who are moving to Nebraska from another jurisdiction that has a similar license type.

Registration Fee- $25.00
Renewal
Renewal is required biennially by January 1 of each odd-numbered year. The renewal fee is $25.00.
