Occupational Description


Barbers provide personal services to customers such as cutting, shampooing, coloring, permanent waving, straightening and styling hair. They may also offer facial shaves and other grooming services.

Licensure Requirements


Applicants for a barber's license must be at least 17 years of age, with a high school diploma or equivalent. Applicants must have completed 1,800 hours at a Board approved barber school and pass both a written and practical examination prior gaining a barber license. Examinations are administered quarterly.

Fees


Examination & Two-Year License - $220.00

Renewal


Licenses expire on June 30 of each even numbered year. The renewal fee is $120.00.
