License Description
Occupational Description
Real Estate Brokers may operate a real estate office overseeing real estate transactions, or work as an agent of such a broker (usually in an independent contractor status). For some type of compensation, they negotiate or attempt to secure prospects for the listing, sale, purchase, exchange, rent, lease, or option for any real estate (land) and improvements thereon. The sale of timeshare intervals in Nebraska must also be through a licensed Real Estate Broker.
Licensure Requirements
Applicants must:1. Be at least 19 years of age;2. Have a high school diploma or its equivalent;3. Pass the licensing examination.4. Submit his or her fingerprints to obtain a current criminal background report;5. Complete six courses, not less than 30 hours each, of approved real estate education, in addition to their hours required for the real estate salesperson license;6. Complete the six-hour Course #0003: Professional Practice Standards;7. Show proof of two years of full-time experience or its part-time equivalent in licensed real estate activity;8. Submit a passport-type, head-and-shoulders photo, at least 2" x 2" in size, which was taken within the last year;9. Pay the relevant licensing and examination fees. Additional items are also required for persons applying for non-resident licensure. Effective July 1, 2020- No person issued a broker's license may act as a designated broker for any other licensee until such person has taken additional courses (12 hours) of post-licensure education, consisting in the subjects of real estate trust accounting, brokerage finance, business ethics, and risk management. The course completion certificate must be on file for Course #6000 before supervising any affiliated licensees. Effective July 1, 2020- Upon Passing the Examination, Salespersons and Brokers applicants must complete Course #7000 (12 hours) of post-license education with in 180 days of licensure to avoid being placed on inactive status.

Renewal
Renewal is required biennially. The renewal fee is $180.00.Late Renewal Penalty Fee- $25.00 per month or portion thereof from December through June.
