License Description
Occupational Description
Any person working on a lead abatement project or in a lead occupation in Nebraska must obtain a license. A Lead occupation is a worker, supervisor, inspector, project designer, risk assessor (includes licensure as an inspector), visual lead hazard advisor, or elevated blood lead level investigator. License means an authorization issued by the Department permitting an individual to work in a lead occupation. Abatement or abatement project means any measure or set of measures designed to permanently eliminate lead-based paint hazards.
Licensure Requirements
Applicants must: 1. Complete EPA-approved initial training for the discipline which he or she is applying for, which must be passed with at least a 70%; 2. Complete a Nebraska 3rd-Party Certification Examination; 3. (If applying for a Worker or Supervisor license) Have been examined by a physician within the past year and declared to be physically capable of working while wearing a respirator. Must have an original signature from the physician (MD or DO); 4. Submit two identical photos. Passport-sized (2" x 2"), head/shoulders taking up majority of area, taken within the past six months.

Renewal
Licenses expire two years from the date of issuance. An individual, once licensed, must successfully complete an approved annual review course in order to renew his or her license, and must furnish proof of completion of such course during renewal. To renew a license, an applicant must submit the following to the Department of Health & Human Services: 1. Renewal notice; 2. Renewal fee; 3. Documentation of completing a Department-approved lead refresher training course; 4. Documentation of being examined by a physician and declared to be physically capable of working while wearing a respirator.
