License Description Applicants must: 1) Have successfully completed an accredited 4-year program (of at least 3,000 hours for those who graduated on or after November 25, 2002*) in oriental medicine at a college or school approved by the State Board. 2) Earned a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the United States, or lawfully practiced oriental medicine in another state or foreign country for at least four years. 3) Pass the National exams covering acupuncture and herbology. 4) Pass a practical examination given by the Board (offered June & Dec.). 5) Pass a background and personal history investigation conducted by the Board. * The 3,000 hours must include 2,500 didactic and 500 clinical hours. For those who graduated before November 25, 2002 the requirement is 2,800 hours including 2,500 didactic and 300 clinical hours. For more information, visit the Board's website. Fees may be subject to change. Fees are: application--$1,000; practical exam fee--$1000; annual license renewal (must furnish proof of 10 hours of continuing education per calendar year)--$700; fingerprint processing - $38.25.
