Landscape Architect
License Description
Applicants must have a combination of 6 or more years of education and experience in landscape architecture that is acceptable to the Board and pass the state and national exams. For example: 1) Have a bachelor's or master's in landscape architecture (or a degree in a related subject acceptable to the Board) from an approved school. 2) Have completed 2 years of post graduate work experience under the direct supervision of a registered landscape architect (or a combination of education and experience acceptable to the Board). 3) Pass a State Board examination and the national Landscape Architect Registration Exam (LARE). The national examination is administered by CLARB*. Applicants for the Landscape Architect in Training (LAIT) certificate must: 1) Be 21 years old, of good moral character and a U.S. citizen (or lawfully entitled to be in the U.S.). 2a) Have a 4 year landscape architecture degree, or 2b) Have 4 years of work experience under the supervision of a licensed landscape architect. 3) Have passed Section A and B of the LARE exam. *CLARB = Council of Landscape Architect Registration Boards. Reciprocity: For those registered in good standing in another state (or province of Canada), with no disciplinary action ever taken. Visit the Board website for specific requirements. Fees may be subject to change. Fees are: registration by exam--$175 ($100 for LAIT); national examination administration--$100 ($50 for LAIT); national exam fee - cost varies depending on the number of sections the applicant is taking; examination fee for the Nevada-specific exam--$75; annual license renewal - determined annually by Board--$150-$200 ($100 for LAIT).
