Pharmaceutical Technician
License Description Pharmaceutical technicians and pharmaceutical technicians-in-training must register with the State Board. They may practice in all pharmacy settings under the direction of a pharmacist registered with the Nevada Board of Pharmacy. Pharmacy Technician applicants must: 1) Be at least 18 years old. 2) Have a high school degree or the equivalent. 3) Have not been convicted of a misdemeanor or felony that involves moral turpitude, dishonesty or the unlawful possession, sale or use of drugs. 4) Have no history of drug abuse. In addition applicants must meet one of the following requirements: 1) Be licensed or registered as a pharmaceutical technician in another state that licenses pharmaceutical technicians or, 2) Have completed at least 1,500 hours in Nevada as a registered pharmaceutical technician-in-training or, 3) Have graduated from a school accredited by the Am. Society of Healthsystem Pharmacists (ASHP) and have completed 350 hours in Nevada as a registered pharmaceutical technician-in-training or, 4) Graduated from a school in another state that is not accredited by the ASHP and have passed the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board's (PTCB) national exam or, 5) Have passed the PTCB exam and completed 500 hours in Nevada as a registered technician-in-training. Fees may be subject to change. Fees are: registration--$40; renewal--$40.
